Dry Needling for Pain Management

Dry Needling for Pain Management is a modern and safe therapeutic treatment designed to ease muscular pain that can be carried out superficially or at deep tissue level.

The treatment is an invasive procedure where several fine filiform needles are inserted into the skin and muscle. The needles that are used do not inject fluid into the body, hence the term "Dry".

Using this form of therapy we aim to reduce the pain, tightness, tenderness and dysfunction in the soft tissue by releasing the areas that are oversensitive, also known as myofascial trigger points (MTrP's) - hyperirritable spots that can develop due to overloading or overusing a muscle, or when the body is stressed and tensed. Dry Needling for pain management will cause a 'local twitch response', which is an involuntary spinal cord reflex contraction of the muscle. This 'twitch' confirms the presence of the needle in the right place.

After a Dry Needling treatment there is an instant change in the tone of the targeted muscle, improvement of your mobility and reduction of pain and discomfort.

As an add on treatment for pain management, Dry Needling can be functional integrated for many conditions and injuries. At Senzis Sports and Massage Therapy we are fully qualified to perform Dry Needling for Pain Management.
